Poster Presenter Guidelines

A Poster Session is a graphic presentation of an author’s research. Authors illustrate their findings by highlighting their main findings, displaying graphs, photos, diagrams and a small amount of text on the poster boards. Please read the following guidelines and information before you begin to create your poster presentation. Give considerable thought to the design and presentation of your poster to make sure that it stands out as an attractive and informative presentation.

Poster Sessions:

        • Poster Session 1: Tuesday 5th November, 17:00 – 19:30.

        • Poster Session 2: Wednesday 6th November, 17:00 – 19:30.

        • Poster Session 3: Thursday 7th November, 17:00 – 19:30.

        • Poster Session 4: Friday 8th November, 15:30 – 18:00.

Poster Session Policies:

Authors will hold discussions with attendees and speakers who are circulating among the poster boards.

The poster author is required to stand by the poster during the scheduled poster session to answer questions from attendees.

All posters will be presented in the same Exhibit Room.

All posters must remain on displayed over all Poster Session days (5th to 8th November) in the Exhibit Room.

Authors must set up their posters between 14:00 and 16:30 on day 4th November and keep them up until 8th November. Posters must be removed by 18:00 on day 8th November when the Exhibit Room closes. Posters not removed will be considered unwanted and will be discarded.

Recording any presentation or session (oral or poster) by any means, (photography, audio taping, or videotaping) is prohibited except by first authors who wish to photograph their own poster presentations.

Poster Dimensions and Style Guidelines:

Poster presentations are hard-copy (paper/poster) format only.

To ensure that your poster fits and makes optimal use of the available space, it must therefore be portrait/vertical format, size A0, that is, 841mm (width) x 1189mm (height).

Mounting material to hang your poster will be provided.

The poster should be readable from a distance of 1.5 – 2 meters.

The text should be no less than 8 mm (22 point font) and preferably larger.

Use a black and bold type to ensure legibility and let your important points stand out.

We suggest that you show the preferred sequence in which your poster should be reviewed this can be done by using 3 columns so the eye movement is down the columns.

We suggest that you structure your poster by Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. State your aims in the end of the introduction.

Pictures, diagrams, and other materials of adequate size are often helpful.

Be careful in your use of colors, some people are red-green color blind and some colors do not stand out in contrast to others.
