Rhian M Touyz, MBBCh, MSc(Med), PhD, is the Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences (ICAMS), University of Glasgow. She is the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of the ICAMS BHF Award of Excellence. Prof Touyz received her PhD (1992) from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and completed a post-doctoral fellowship (1992-1996) at the Clinical Research Institute of Montreal, Canada. Prof. Touyz has received numerous academic and research awards, is on the Executive of the International Society of Hypertension, is the past President of the Canadian Hypertension Society and is the immediate past Chair of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research of the American Heart Association. Prof Touyz has trained over 40 graduate and post-graduate students and has published over 290 original papers and many review articles. Her main focus of research relates to molecular, cellular and vascular mechanisms of hypertension and has a particular interest in translational and clinical research.A complete list of your publications can be found here.
