Holds a B.Sc. degree in Pharmacy – by the University of Sao Paulo, M.Sc. and Ph.D. (1996) in Biological Sciences (Pharmacology, FMRP) by the University of Sao Paulo. Held internships at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY – USA, University of Montreal – Clinical Research Institute of Montreal – Canada and Augusta University (Medical College of Georgia), GA – USA. Professor and Chair of Pharmacology Department of the Ribeirao Preto Medical School (FMRP) – University of Sao Paulo, member of the Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and member of The Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Has experience in Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Physiology and interest directed to signaling pathways that control vascular function and its changes in arterial hypertension, diabetes and obesity. Specific Interests: glycosylation with N-acetilglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) and vascular (dys)function, involvement of cytokines, endothelins, aldosterone and sexual hormones in target-organ damage in cardiovascular diseases.
