David L. Sacks, M.D. Ph.D., is Senior Researcher at the National Institutes of Health-NIH. Dr. Sacks coordinates a research group interested in understanding the cellular biology of leishmaniasis infections and the biology of Leishmania parasites in their mammalian hosts and phlebotomine vectors. Dr. Sacks is the author of more than 120 scientific papers. Their studies have been published in leading journals of the area, including: Science, Nature Immunology, Journal of Experimental Medicine, PNAS. Dr. Sacks has received numerous awards, including the Medal from the American Society for Tropical Medicine. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
